YAZOO CITY, MS (WLBT) - It's a history-making day at family-owned Ribeye's Steak House in Yazoo City.  "First time it's been turned on since April 24th," said the owner's son, cook Rob Saxton, as he fired up the grill.

Positive energy marked the preparations Wednesday inside the newly-renovated restaurant. The bar is stocked, dishes are stacked, and the trim work is getting last-minute touches.

Two months ago, Governor Haley Barbour held his first post-tornado media address in the parking lot.

"This is a restaurant that's been here all my life," Barbour said at that time.

Insurance has covered most of the cost of rebuilding, but not all of it.

"Lots of hard work, but it's gonna work out for the best," said owner Mitchell Saxton.

Rob Saxton and his wife endured terrifying minutes in the parking lot when the tornado hit. "We were just lifted up into the air," Saxon said at that time.

Things are looking up for his family now.

"We hadn't had any income since April 24th, finally getting back going," he said.

The Wendy's restaurant in Yazoo City should re-open by the weekend, but Save-a-Lot, a neighborhood grocery store, may take longer.
