House fire in Rankin County

RANKIN COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - Fire fighters battled a blaze Friday in Rankin County.

It was on Highway 18, near Della Bell Drive which turns into Salem-Cato Road. Several Rankin County fire departments were dispatched to 4829 Highway 18 after a homeowner reported smelling smoke inside a mobile home around 11 Friday morning.

Volunteer fire departments from Robinhood, Shell Road and Puckett, as well as Rankin County EOC responded. Skycopter 3 recorded this video of flames leaping through the roof.

 No one was injured and the cause is still being investigated by the Rankin County Sheriff's office.

However, a family member tells WLBT a child was playing with a cigarette lighter before the fire started.
