JACKSON, MS (WLBT) – An inner city community in Jackson came together Sunday to celebrate love and fellowship.
Jaycee Park was filled with children and their families enjoying an afternoon of fun.
They were all taking part in the God Loves You Community Festival.
Children played in the space jumps and on swings while under the watchful eyes of adults who tried to relax in the shade.
There was free food, music and activities for the kids.
Organizers said the event is designed to reach out to area residents and to use God as a light to show them love and stop violence in the community.
"We want to continue to do this and bring love and unity in the community, to provide unity and love with families, be a mentor to children that are fatherless and homeless and don't have proper mentors and we just want to bring people together," said organizer Rev. John Taylor Jr.
This is the second year the event has been held.
