Civil suit revived in '04 death

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Years since she was acquitted of killing her husband in a second trial, former Jackson school teacher Elicia Hughes may have to defend herself again - this time in a civil lawsuit.

Court papers have been filed in Hinds County Circuit Court seeking to take depositions from Hughes and her mother regarding the June 3, 2004, shooting death of Brian Hughes.

Brian Hughes' parents, Willie and Patricia Hughes, have a $20 million wrongful death lawsuit pending against Elicia Hughes. Their attorney, Sanford Knott, filed the papers last month after the lawsuit, filed in August 2007, appeared to be languishing.
