20-year-old mother arrested for leaving baby in car

Posted: Updated:

HATTIESBURG, MS (WLBT) - A Hattiesburg woman is arrested in a Wal-Mart parking lot after leaving her baby in a car.

It happened Sunday afternoon at the Wal-Mart on Highway 49.

Police said 20-year-old Bobbie Joe McSwain, left her 9-month-old boy inside her car and then went inside the store.

Another customer reported seeing the child, and that's when police were called.

Authorities were able to get the child out of the vehicle, and when the boy's mother finally came out, instead of getting back in her car, she was put in the back of a police car and charged with felony child neglect.

The boy seemed to be in good condition and was turned over to a family member.
