MADISON COUNTY (WLBT) - Forty-one-year-old Shelia Ealey of Flora, the mother charged in the death of her baby, is in the hospital getting a medical check up. Ealey turned herself in to police Friday night.
Ealey is charged with murder and will most likely appear before a judge after she's released from the hospital.
The infant was found behind Smith Chapel Baptist Church on Livingston-Vernon Road near Flora Friday afternoon. The body was stuffed in a suitcase.
An autopsy has been performed on the infant's body, and Madison County Sheriff Toby Trowbridge says DNA testing will confirm whether Ealey is, indeed, the newborn's mother.
