JACKSON, MS (WLBT) – A young couple's overnight stay at a Jackson motel turned into a nightmare this weekend.
They claim bugs infested the bed and their skin, and they have video of their creepy experience.
Wyneisha Crawford said around 5 a.m. Saturday she was awakened by stings she thought were mosquito bites inside room 223 of the Deluxe Inn.
"Bugs were covered all over my baby's ear. He was bleeding on the right side of his ear," said Crawford.
But when her boyfriend turned the lights on in the Highway 80 motel room, the 21-year-old said she was horrified to see bugs on the bedding as well as on her 18-month-old son.
"They were covered all over the bed up under the pillows, by our ears and head, everywhere on our body, by our feet. So we went on to the hospital and we got treated. Scabies was in our skin," said Crawford.
Her boyfriend, 30-year-old Joseph Greenfield, said he's rented rooms at the motel before but has never had this problem.
"When I actually got up and looked up under the cover, I saw a whole lot of different bugs and I checked my family, and they were covered with bugs," said Greenfield.
Crawford called police and said she informed motel management who refused to refund her money.
Deluxe Inn co-owner Sonny Patel denied the claims Tuesday and said the rooms were inspected after their complaint.
Patel said he would not comment on camera but offered to show us the clean room.
He said he may be to do an interview with his brother and co-owner on another day.
Meanwhile, Crawford said she plans to file a lawsuit.
