GULFPORT, MS (WLBT) - A Gulfport company is putting in long hours Wednesday to help with the coastal crisis.
Trinity Yachts is building five skimmers that will be used to remove oil from Mississippi waters.
Tuesday, Governor Haley Barbour and First Lady Marsha Barbour toured the facility.
After the governor learned there were very few skimmers available, he requested that they be built.
BP is picking up the tab for each vessel which costs around 400-thousand dollars.
Trinity said they have been working seven days a week, in two shifts to complete the boats.
The first skimmer should be in the water by next week.
The state has leased eight skimmers from the French.
