HATTIESBURG, MS (WLBT) - A few Hattiesburg residents allege improper conduct Wednesday from the city council.
Residents spoke out against the deal to buy the old First Baptist Church property and sell it to Sacred Heart School.
Those resident presented the council with a list of concerns.
They asked if the city failed to perform an environmental assessment of the property and asked if every council member was made aware of all the details of the deal.
"If we're wrong about the failures in this document, there's 10 of them, ya'll can check them off and provide the information," said a resident. "If you have an environmental study, was there an environmental study done prior to the purchase of First Baptist Church? If it wasn't, why not?"
A petition seeking an independent inquiry into the deal is now being circulated.
