JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - As emergency crews clean up a serious one-car accident on I-220 near Medgar Evers Boulevard Wednesday, our WLBT news photographer captures a rubber-necker causing another violent accident yards away.
An unidentified woman said she took her eyes off the road for a split second to look at a wreck on the opposite side of I-220.
She slammed into the rear of a small Ford Taurus knocking the vehicle off the interstate.
A third motorist managed to avoid the nasty collision and drove off.
Both drivers were treated on the scene.
All of this happened as crews attempted to remove a van that flipped over the cable guard. The top of the van was ripped off. The vehicle then landed upside down in the median.
The unidentified driver was rushed to a local hospital.
Officials said this crash was caused by a blown-out rear tire.
