VICKSBURG, MS (WLBT) - A new Miss Mississippi was crowned Saturday night. The former Miss Metro Jackson Sarah Beth James is now Miss Mississippi 2010. The Madison native was crowned at the Vicksburg Convention Center.
She competed in talent evening wear and on stage question. James hopes her new title will help share the importance of organ and tissue donation which is her platform. Sunday the new Miss Mississippi held her first press conference in Vicksburg. James said she is excited to compete in the 2011 Miss America Pageant in Las Vegas.
"In preparing for the Miss America Pageant I'm going to be doing all kinds of things, working with talent, working out getting ready for swimsuit, just promoting the state of Mississippi and representing them well," said James.
She took home a $10,000 scholarship and succeeds last year's Miss Mississippi, Brandon resident Anna Tadlock.
