MISSISSIPPI (WLBT) - A new marshal of the Mississippi Supreme court takes up his duties Monday.
Fifty-seven-year-old Stephen Market is a veteran law enforcement officer from Madison. He replaces A.W. Grubbs of Brandon, who retired June 30th after 14 years at the post.
The supreme court marshal supervises all security and emergency operations. He also coordinates with police on security for the justices, court of appeals judges and all staff members working in the justice building right here in Jackson.
The supreme court justices appoint the marshal.
