JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - It's hard to imagine thieves carting off a whole central air conditioning unit. But it happened over the weekend in south Jackson. A 3-ton air conditioning unit was hauled off from a home on Key Street off McDowell Road.
The recent burglary is making it hard for the woman who rents the modest home and her two young children to keep cool. The thieves also broke into the house stealing a number of other items, including television sets and a computer.
The renter who did not want to be identified said she was away from home over the weekend. Just last week someone stole the electric meter and she was left in the dark.
The owner of the house who called WLBT about the stolen central air condition unit says she was shocked that someone would walk away it. Suzie Cranston says she will have to shell out nearly $2,000 dollars to replace the unit.

Jefferson County Sheriff Peter Walker has identified the woman found dead in the cemetery of East Mount Olive Baptist Church Wednesday night.
