FLOWOOD, MS (WLBT) – The Central Mississippi Tea Party held a forum for select candidates in the district three congressional race.
The organization only invited Democrat Joel Gill and Republican Congressman Gregg harper to speak at the general meeting.
It was standing room only for the event held at the Flowood City Hall.
Quinton Dickerson represented Congressman Harper who was in Washington.
They were each given 15 minutes to discuss their platform, then answered questions from the audience.
Tea party officials said their platform includes limited government, fiscal responsibility and free markets.
"What we want to find out is where the candidates stand on the issues. I think we have two great candidates. I know Mr. Gill is a great man, a man of integrity as well as Gregg Harper, so we want to find out where they are on the issues and allow the audience an opportunity to ask questions and ask anything they're not sure about," said Central Mississippi Tea Party Communications Chairman Rocky Ruello.
Democrat Gill and Republicans Harper and Tracella O'hara Hill face off in the November second general election.
