Wesley College to close due to debt

Posted: Updated:

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Wesley College, a small ministry school located in Florence, will soon close its doors for good.

The school is set to close at the end of the month because of a $2.7 million debt.

Leaders of the college learned of the closure last week and have notified students enrolled for fall classes.

The debt accrued from building a new dorm and a drop in contributions prompted the decision to close.

The college has about 140 students per semester with 40% living on campus.
