Governor pushes to stop tribal casino

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Another push by Governor Haley Barbour Thursday to stop construction on that planned slot parlor in Sandersville.

In a letter to Tracie Stevens, the chairwoman of the Indian Gaming Commission, Barbour said, in part, that he is "opposed to the recent decision to move forward with this plan, especially since the tribe has done little or nothing to identify environmental, public health and safety issues in the area, much less address them."
