Tuesday morning fire destroys Jackson home

Posted: Updated:

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Jackson fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of an early Tuesday morning house fire.

The fire happened just before 2:30 Tuesday morning at a home in the 3100 block of Lakewood Drive.

That is located near Woody Street and McDowell Road.

Flames could shot through the roof of the home.

Jackson Police tell us someone was inside.

The occupant managed to get out without suffering any injuries.

Residents in the area say fires, like Tuesday morning's blaze, could have been put out quicker, if the area had more fire hydrants.

A firefighter on the scene said the fire hydrants in the area have two hose connectors.

So, it takes just a tad bit longer to connect.

But that the equipment is functional.

WLBT is working to find out exactly how many fire hydrants are in the Lakewood neighborhood.
