JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Participants in town for the Barrel Horse Racing Competition are frustrated they can't get into the state fairgrounds Thursday.
They were lining up along the fence surrounding the Mississippi State Fairgrounds arriving a day early for the event.
Holly Calhoun drove to Jackson from Bartow, Florida.
"Well, we leave early because to come up here and get your spot, your hook-up and things. You're not here early then you're out in the boonies back here, and it's murder getting in when everybody is here," said Calhoun. "Down this way to the road; down that way to the road; I mean it's a fight to park."
Fairgrounds Executive Director Billy Orr said he would like to let them in when they arrive, but a National Barrel Horse Racing Association rule prohibit Orr from opening the gates until 6:45 Friday morning, the opening day of the event.
