CLINTON, MS (WLBT) A group of Mississippi National Guard troops are back on home soil tonight.
This morning a welcome home celebration was held for the 114th Military Police Company from Clinton.
They were greeted by hundreds of family and friends who held signs and American flags on the Mississippi College campus.
The soldiers stepped off the caravan of buses into the waiting arms of their loved ones. Many cried as they clutched and hugged people they hadn't seen in a year.
The soldiers provided security for military convoys while overseas.
All 185 members returned home safely.
"It was really hard, with family, the 114th, that's my family so it wasn't really that hard to adapt and adjust.""I was very concerned that it's war and you never, you just never know that's the most I was worried about him getting him home safe and sound," said Captain Micah Taylor.
The 114th M.P.'s have completed multiple tours in the middle east.
One of their most important duties came early in the Gulf War, during Operation Desert Storm.
There, they served as the personal security team for General Norman Schwarzkopf.
