High speed chase ends with arrest of suspected armed robber

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - An armed robbery at the Renaissance shopping center in Ridgeland sparked a high speed police chase into Jackson Thursday night.  Two employees of Five Guys Burgers were robbed at gunpoint around 11:30 Thursday night. 

From the sky Metro One monitors the chase, as Ridgeland Police pursued a suspected armed robber.  The victims of the armed robbery in the Renaissance parking lot Thursday night gave Ridgeland Police a description of the thief and his get away vehicle a silver Pontiac grand prix.

"We had an officer on Interstate 55 who spotted the vehicle going south into Jackson.  He attempted to make a traffic stop and a high speed chase ensued," said Ridgeland Police Lt. John Neal.

As the car moved into Jackson, JPD joined in the pursuit.  Officers followed the vehicle on various streets through Jackson including the Meadowbrook Road, Mayes Street and Livingston Road area.

"The chase led through a residential area, went down a dead end street, bailed out of the car," said Lt. Neal.

The man rolled his vehicle into a home on Montebello Drive and takes off on foot.  Metro One used an infrared camera to track the suspect in the dark.  Metro One over fences and then hiding near a house on Kings Road Avenue. 

The man arrested is 25-year-old Jerome Bracey, Jr. of Florence.  He was arrested and faces multiple charges including armed robbery and felony fleeing.
