JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Eric Auberg, 41, was the victim of a home invasion just four days before he planned to move, said neighbors.

Officials said two men walked into Auberg's apartment around six o'clock Monday morning at the Casa Grande apartment complex in the 3600 block of Terry Road in Jackson.

According to police, the door was unlocked at the time. The men then struck Auberg in the face, tied him up, and stole his wallet and car keys, according to police. Then, they took off in his gold Chevrolet HHR.

Auberg managed to free himself, walk to a nearby Kroger, and call police.

Meanwhile, OnStar alerted officials about the location of the stolen vehicle.

The vehicle was heading South on Interstate 55, and crossed into Lincoln County around 7:15 Monday morning.

Soon after, Lincoln County officials were able to capture 19-year-old Cody Howell, 19-year-old Joshua Keys, and 20-year-old Damarius Gardner. The men were found inside the stolen vehicle, which was stopped at a Kasko Travel Center near the interstate in Brookhaven. All three are from Jackson. They are each charged with house burglary and armed robbery.

Auberg's neighbors said they're shocked by what happened.

"He don't bother nobody, he's a real honest person, he's real nice," said Wilber Brown, who lives in a nearby apartment.

"I hope everybody stays safe, and maybe one day people will stop doing these crazy things to other people," said Heather Lambright, Auberg's immediate neighbor.
