PEARL, MS (WLBT) - A mother and daughter accused of setting a fire that killed a disabled man waived their preliminary hearings Thursday.

Pearl police said Mary Ellyn and Sarah Elizabeth McWhorter deliberately set the fire that killed  55-year-old Joseph McWhorter in October 2009.

The case was bound over to the Rankin County Grand Jury.

All three lived in a mobile home on Greenfield Road.

Ten months after the blaze, forensic evidence linked the mother and daughter to arson.

The women are in jail on $500,000 dollars bond each.

The case is still being investigated and additional charges have not been ruled out.
