MONROE COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - This searing heat is being blamed for the death of an elderly north Mississippi woman.
The Monroe County coroner says 81-year-old Earnestine Fields suffered a heat stroke Saturday afternoon.
Her body was found on the back porch of a relative's house, about 75 yards from her home. Temperatures in the area approached 100 degrees.
The coroner says her age and other medical problems contributed to the heat death.
