LONG BEACH, Miss. (AP) - Authorities say an elderly Long Beach man died in a fire at his home Monday night.
Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove identified the man as 74-year-old Murl Savage. Hargrove said an autopsy showed Savage died of smoke inhalation.
After the fire was extinguished, Battalion Chief Lance Bond tells The Sun Herald that firefighters searched the home and discovered Savage's body in a bedroom.
A preliminary investigation indicated the fire started in the kitchen. Long Beach firefighters and the state fire marshal's office are investigating the case of the fire.
