JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Jackson police are searching for one of the men who robbed a Northeast Jackson store at gunpoint Friday morning, sending the store owner to the hospital.

It happened just before 7:30 AM at SL Quick Food Mart at 442 Bounds Street, just off I-55 Southbound/Frontage Road.

According to police, one of the men fired a round, but did not hit anyone. The store owner, Gurmej Singh, was taken to UMC in stable condition for other injuries related to the robbery.

No one else one inside at the time.

Singh's wife spoke with police at the store after the shooting. She told WLBT she and her husband have owned the store for three and a half years.

She showed our cameras that the surveillance video tape from the back of the store was among the items stolen.

Police captured one of the suspected robbers under a carport on Keele Street. He is Christopher Washington, 34. According to police, he has a criminal history.

Police are still on the lookout for the other man involved. They said he has dreadlocks. Police searched nearby neighborhoods, and pulled a white long-sleeved T-shirt from a wooded area. They believe it belongs to the robber.

It is unclear at this point who pulled the trigger.

Police believe the man they are looking for could be armed.
