Man accused of theft from nursing home residents

GAUTIER, Miss. (AP) - A 33-year-old Gautier man has been accused of stealing credit cards from the elderly residents of a nursing home where he was employed.

Bryan Keith Shanks was charged Wednesday with three counts of exploitation of a vulnerable adult. Jackson County Sheriff Mike Byrd says officers found him hiding in an air conditioning vent of a neighbor's apartment.

Shanks is awaiting prosecution on charges of commercial burglary and escape. He was free on $50,000 bond at the time the credit card allegations were raised by a victim's relative who reported unusual charges on a statement.
