Jackson, MS (WBLT) - A insurance industry study shows car thieves like luxury and a lot of room when selecting a car to steal.
This week the list of the most stolen cars was released by the Highway Loss Data Institute.
Topping the list as the most stolen car in the U.S., is the Cadillac Escalade.
The luxury SUV is priced between $65-$85 thousand dollars.
The study shows that from 2007 to 2009, an average of one out of every one hundred insured Escalade's were stolen.
Cadillac salesmen say it's the only true premium luxury SUV on the market.
Jackson police say many cars in the metro are taken, because car owners don't take enough precautions to protect their cars, and many leave their keys inside.
