JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Yoga is a practice that calms the mind and body. It's a perfect demonstration of non-violence.
In support of violence prevention, Saturday a group of people who practice yoga gathered at the Mississippi Center for the Arts to perform 108 Sun Salutations.
The sun salutation is a cycle of standard yoga moves. The event is called "Yoga For Non-Violence". Proceeds will go to the Center For Violence Prevention's Domestic Violence Programs and Services.
"There are yoga studios all over the metro area who have been training people for a month to participate. It's a yoga marathon," said Executive Director Sandy Middleton.
Saturday morning organizers decided to dedicate the marathon to Jackson Police Officer Glen Agee, who was killed in the line of duty last night.
