VICKSBURG, MS (WLBT) - On the first Saturday of every month, rain or shine, a team from Hands and Feet Ministries are on the streets of Vicksburg serving food.  Instead of setting up a soup kitchen for the needy to come and eat, hands and feet ministries are meeting the river city's homeless where they are at.

Saturday volunteers set up a serving station in a parking lot on Main Street.  Nearly 50 people showed up for the free hot meal.

"Our purpose is to love them and show them God's love.  We're not here to preach.  We're not here to promote or build anybody's church.  We have people who are helping from other churches, some people that don't even go to church," said Hands and Feet co-founder Kevin Vaughan.

This is the fifth time hands and feet ministries fed Vicksburg's needy.  Volunteers hope to increase donations to serve food twice a month.
