JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Former part-time educator Sheral Smith, already in prison for statutory rape in Rankin County, will serve six years for committing the same crime in Hinds County involving a 14-year-old boy.
The Clarion-Ledger reports Smith pleaded guilty Monday and was sentenced to 20 years with 14 suspended and six to serve.
The sentence will run concurrently with the seven years Smith is serving for the Rankin County charges.
In September 2008, Smith was charged with five counts of statutory rape in Rankin County.
Jamie McBride, Hinds County assistant district attorney, said charges were issued in Hinds and Rankin counties because Smith crossed county lines to have sex with the victim in a park.
