Several MS cities and counties ban the sale of "spice"

Posted: Updated:

HATTIESBURG, MS (WLBT) - The city of Hattiesburg is joining a laundry list of other cities where synthetic marijuana is now outlawed.

It's commonly referred to as spice or K2.

The substance is typically sold as a type of incense. WLBT was the first station to shine the light on the product being used as a drug. That led to several local cities and law enforcement trying to ban it.

Many are smoking it as a way to get "high."

The cities of Columbus, Kosciusko, Petal, Corinth, Gulfport as well as Lafayette and Pike Counties are all apart of a growing list of local governments banning the sale and or possession of spice.

State leaders, by the way, are also hoping to pass a state law banning spice.
