Brandon man arrested in Jackson man's death

PEARL RIVER COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - A Brandon man is charged in connection with the death of a Jackson resident.

Authorities in Pearl River County discovered the skeletal remains of Richard A. Swartz III of Jackson near Poplarville. The 28-year-old is not related to the Jackson attorney with a similar name, but he is the son of a Louisiana judge.

Swartz had been missing since July 27.

Oscar K. Lindsey, 50, of Brandon has been charged with manslaughter. Lindsey was stopped over the weekend in Richland, allegedly driving Swartz's car. His bond is set at $20,000 cash.

Pearl River County Chief Deputy Shane Tucker says he is awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine how Swartz died.
