Man dies after February hit and run

RIDGELAND, MS (WLBT) - 53-year-old Edwin Abernathy was struck on the night of February 5th on Lake Harbour Drive in Ridgeland.

Family members said Abernathy has been in a coma since the accident and died Wednesday night.

38-year-old Scott Daniel Turnage of Ridgeland was charged with hit and run and leaving the scene of an accident with injuries.

He was released on five-thousand-dollars bond after turning himself in to police.

Authorities said he is not set on the trial docket until January.

The case would have to be re-presented to the grand jury if his charges are upgraded.
