JPS security officials participate in Professional Development Day

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - JPS officials are making preparations to keep your students safe when they return to the classroom .

Friday, 120 JPS  security officers participated in a Professional Development Day at Northwest Middle School.

The officers received training on everything from gangs to how to handle sexual harassment issues.

One of the guest speakers at the event was Captain Victor Mason of the Hinds County Sheriff's Department, who shared tips on how to spot gang activity in the classroom.
