Thunderstorms caused flooding and damage to structures

Posted: Updated:

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - A strong line of thunderstorms roared through much of the metro area around 4:30 p.m. Friday afternoon.

A tree was blown down onto one of the units at the Twin Oaks Apartments on Robinson Street in Jackson. The tree fell from the property next door to the complex. It left a crack in the roof. The owner of the apartment put a tarp on the damaged roof. No word if there were any injuries or when the roof will be repaired.

And heavy showers also caused the streets to flood in downtown Jackson. Here you see part of Farish Street looked like a small lake. Most drivers cautiously made their way through the area. And on monument street water collected under this railroad viaduct.

Not all drivers were willing to risk driving through the high water.
