PANAMA CITY, FL (WLBT) - President Barack Obama visits the Gulf Coast to reassure those hurt by the oil spill that his administration is committed to helping them recover.
The President and First Lady met with Florida Governor Charlie Crist and a few small business owners in Panama City, Florida Saturday to hear firsthand what they've been going through.
President Obama says he knows the oil disaster has been tough on people who earn their living on the water. And he wants them to know he hasn't forgotten his promise to them.
"I made a commitment in my visits here that I was going to stand with you not just until the well was closed, and not just until the oil was cleaned up - but until you have fully recovered from the damage that has been done," President Obama told the crowd.
The President said he will keep pushing to make sure people filing claims for damages will get a fair shake ad make sure the claims are processed quickly.
