LEAKE COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - An $11,000 reward is being offered by the family of a Leake County woman found shot to death last Thursday morning. Her body was found in a tack shop beside her home.

Donna Cochran, 44, is believed to be the victim of a robbery. She lived about eight miles southeast of Carthage on Highway 488 in the Free Trade community.

It's such a peaceful rural area. You would never believe somebody would be shot twice for money in such a tranquil place.

Her neighbors describe her and her husband as good people, but nobody around the house or at the home of her parents in another part of Leake County will talk on camera about the case.

They did say the family is devastated.

Sheriff Greg Waggoner finds it to be such a perplexing case, because he simply has no leads.

"Everything is open," he told WLBT. "This is not going to be easy, it doesn't appear. We are looking at all sides of it. We are hoping at some point, someone will give us some information that will help crack this thing."

Investigators found .25-caliber shell casings near her body.

Cochran's husband was out of town, and when he couldn't reach her, he called the victim's father-in-law, who found her Thursday morning.

Sheriff Waggoner is asking for any help he can get and asking anyone with information to call the Leake County Sheriff's Department at (601) 267-7361.
