
JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - A Jackson man has been acquitted of murder in a love triangle, but was found guilty on another charge.
29-year-old Jerel Kimbrough was on trial for depraved heart murder in the shooting death of 39-year-old Michael Smith.
A Hinds County jury found Kimbrough guilty Tuesday of shooting into a vehicle occupied by Smith's longtime companion Angela Johnson.
Smith was killed during a confrontation in July, 2008 outside Kimbrough's home.
Hinds County Judge Malcolm Harrison sentenced Kimbrough to five years.
