MADISON, MS (WLBT) - An accused child predator made an appearance in court Thursday for a preliminary hearing. Madison Municipal Judge Dale Danks decided there is enough evidence to turn over Ricky Wayne Davis' case to a grand jury.
Davis is charged with two counts of attempted exploitation of a child and two counts of attempted kidnapping. According to Madison Police, 49 year old Davis was driving to various Madison neighborhoods trying to lure children to his car. Davis's Attorney Matt Scott was asked why Davis, a Jackson resident, was driving in Madison neighborhoods.
"Quite honestly, I'm not going to answer that question. Everybody has a reason for driving around. He has one. It's not something I'm going to go into right now," said Mike Scott.
Scott asked for Davis' $2 million bond be reduced to $100,000. Judge Danks denied that request.
