JACKSON, MS (WLBT) – A Jackson man was shot twice as he tried to flee an attempted carjacker early Sunday morning.
J.P.D. Officer Colendula Green said the 23-year-old was sitting in a maroon GMC Jimmy at the intersection of Terry Road and Daniel Lake Boulevard around when the shooting happened around 3 a.m.
He told police that a man in an older modeled Oldsmobile in the next lane got out of his car, approached the passenger's side of his vehicle and demanded money.
The driver quickly sped away but was shot once in the upper back and once in the upper arm.
The victim was able to drive to the parking lot of the Burger King on Terry Road and called 911.
According to police, he is in stable condition at a local hospital.
The attempted carjacker is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall with a slender build, approximately 160 pounds with a gold grill and afro.
The Oldsmobile he was driving had no tag.
