Attempted carjacking victim shot

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Jackson police are investigating an attempted carjacking where the victim was shot as he sped away.

Investigators say a 23-year-old Jackson man in a maroon GMC Jimmy was stopped at the intersection of Terry Road and Daniel Lake Boulevard around 3 a.m. A man in an older modeled Oldsmobile in the next lane got out of his car went to the passenger's side of the victim's car and demanded money.

The driver quickly drove away, but was shot once in the upper back and once in the upper arm. He was able to drive to the parking lot of the Burger King on Terry Road and called 911.

Police say he is in stable condition at a local hospital. The attempted car jacker is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall slender build approximately 160 pounds with a gold grill and afro.

The Oldsmobile he was driving had no tag. Contact police if you have any information about this crime.
