Law enforcement to patrol extra leading into Labor Day

Posted: Updated:

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Law enforcement will be cracking down on drunk drivers leading into the Labor Day holiday weekend.

Tuesday Public Safety Commissioner Stephen Simpson will host a pep rally at the Department Of Public Safety headquarters to help launch the national "Over The Limit Under Arrest" campaign.

Through September 6th Mississippi law enforcement will work overtime. Expect to see road blocks and extra manpower on highways across the state.

Last year 245 people died in alcohol-related crashes in Mississippi. Also in 2009 there were more than 32,000 DUI-related arrests statewide.
