CARY, MS (WLBT) - Nearly a year has passed since the brutal murder of a Cary mother and her daughter.
They were discovered stabbed to death in their Sharkey County home last September.
WLBT has learned a prison inmate is being DNA-tested in connection with the grisly killings.
Sharkey County's chief deputy said Monday all potential leads are being checked.
He refused to identify the inmate who is being held in a separate county jail.
Sharkey County officials are trying to find matches to DNA found at the scene.
Thirty-one-year-old Karitha Carroll and her three-year-old daughter were stabbed multiple times.
