Portions of Hwy. 49 closed Monday, Tuesday

RANKIN COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - There's a traffic alert for motorists traveling Highway 49 north in Rankin County.

MDOT crews are working to resurface and pave the northbound lanes.

At 11 p.m. Monday the right lane just north of Piney Woods school will be closed.

As crews were working on the left lane earlier Monday the right side of the road buckled.

The right lane will be shut down during the morning commute and will remain closed on Tuesday until repairs are complete.

    One person has died in a crash near Harrisonville, MO, Thursday evening. The crash happened on Missouri Highway 7 and Walker Road. It involved a car and a tractor-trailer. Harrisonville is in Cass County.
    Savannah Nash celebrated her 16th birthday last week. She died Thursday when her car slammed into a semi while she was texting during her first time driving by herself.
