MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - It's quite an example 40-year-old Sonja Anderson set for her 22-year-old daughter, Jernecka and Jernecka's 16-year-old sister if the aggravated assault charges against the trio are true.

"It's ridiculous actually, if you ask me," said one student from East High School.

Mother and daughters are accused of stabbing two other 16-year-old East High students Tuesday outside the Old Navy store in Poplar Plaza.  Police said an apparent fight among the girls over a boy boiled over.  Sonja Anderson then showed up.

"I heard she brought the weapons up to the scene," said the student.  "So, it's just crazy."

The student did not want to show her face for her own safety.  However, she said the attack outside Old Navy has been the talk of the school.

"It just shows that the parents are even more crazier than the kids," said the student.  "So, you really know where the kids get it from."

East High parent Pamela Shy tries her best to teach her two girls right and wrong.  That is particularly true in the wake of reported attacks involving students from East and other schools.

"When it comes to fighting, I try to tell them to walk away," said Shy.  "It's best to walk away."

The two girls stabbed Tuesday received only minor injuries and should soon be back at school.

Meanwhile, Sonja Anderson and her two daughters share another common bond.  All three are behind bars.
