JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Jackson State University officials are warning students to be on the lookout for cell phone robbers.

The JSU's Department of Public Safety says in the past week, four students have had their cell phones stolen.

The robbers are asking the students if they can use them to make a call, then they are fleeing.

All of the incidents have occurred on the streets surrounding campus.

Some thieves are luring victims in saying they need help and have run out of gas.

Campus Security Interim Director Tyrone Kidd sent out a Blue Alert email earlier in the week, warning students to be cautious.

The note also said the perpetrators could be driving a black Chevy Impala.

Jackson police are investigating all of the complaints.

JSU officials say they have a person of interest in the crimes.

They are conducting photo lineups with the victims, in hopes of making an arrest.
