MADISON, MS (WLBT) - Boy Scouts of America are celebrating 100 years in 2010.
This weekend, the Andrew Jackson Council-Eastern Division is celebrating by holding a big event at Liberty Park in Madison. It's called the Scout Camp-O-Ree.
Scouts of all ages are taking part in a wide range of outdoor activities, designed for fun and education.
Camp-O-Ree began Friday, and on Saturday, about 900 scouts converged on the grounds. Even non-scouts were invited Saturday, to see what scouting is all about.
"Scouting teaches character, teaches work effort. That's the biggest thing, we build character in young men," says Ken Estes, District Commissioner.
Camp-O-Ree is a camping event for Boy Scouts, and a day-long event for Cub Scouts.
