MENDENHALL, MS (WLBT) - The impact of a Simpson County crash was so intense that authorities said it split a car in half killing the driver.
Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. James Walker said the collision occurred on Highway 13 south of Mendenhall around 8:45 Saturday night.
Thirty year old William E. Mullins of New Hebron was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said his 2001 Ford Mustang was cut in half when it was struck on the passenger's side by a Ford truck.
According to troopers, 55 year old William M. Gaskin of Brookhaven was behind the wheel of the 2006 Ford pickup that hit Mullins.
He and a female passenger were not injured.
Law enforcement officials are trying to determine if weather was a factor in the crash.
So far no charges have been filed.
