SOMERVILLE, TN (WMC-TV) - As state officials continue to investigate allegations of sexual misconduct by former West Tennessee district attorney Terry Dycus, one woman is coming forward to speak up in his defense.

Volunteers at Fayette County Animal Rescue say the shelter is still open thanks to Dycus.

"He's always done a good job...he was very attentive to what we asked for in cases, whether it was a no owner order or restitution," said volunteer Gina Thweatt.

According to Thweatt, many dogs have been taken out of dangerous and often deadly situations because Dycus fought for them court.

She said Dycus never said or did anything improper in the time she worked with him.

"I've spent time in his office alone and talked on the phone with him a lot," she said.
He never said anything inappropriate."

Thweatt was shocked when she heard the news that Dycus was facing allegations of sexual misconduct.

She's seen Dycus interact with others in and of court.

"He would be around other ladies, his secretary, other people, and I never saw anything," she said.

Two women reported Dycus to the Bolivar Police Chief after their attorneys claimed Dycus was trying to coerce them into having sex for getting their cases thrown out of court.

"I've never heard anything like that before regarding him, not from anyone," Thweatt says.

But at least one women says Terry Dycus was nothing but professional.
