Police search for weekend murder suspect

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Jackson police are searching for a suspect they believe is responsible for a weekend murder.

Police suspect 29-year-old Corey Anderson of killing Derrick Spires.

The shooting happened around 11:30 Friday night in the 1000 block of Atley Drive.

Police said Anderson jumped out of a car with a gun. He and Spires struggled with the weapon and it went off.

Spires was hit in the torso and he died Saturday morning at UMC.
